Parking, Red Light, School Bus Arm Citations and Appeal Hearings

The Adjudication Office offers administrative hearings to citizens wanting to contest civil parking and/or Safelight (red light photo enforcement) citations, and to citizens whose vehicles have been booted. Each citation has an administrative hearing d ate printed on it. Prior to the close of business on this date you may contest your citation in one of the following manners:

In person:

You may appear in person on or before the administrative hearing date printed on your citation during the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). The hearing will be held while you are there. The process usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes and usually requires one visit.

If you are unable to come in for a hearing, you may request a hearing by mail at:

Write a letter indicating why you believe the ticket should be dismissed. Be sure to include your name, address, and telephone number, so the hearing office can contact you if additional information is needed. Also, include a copy of any proof that would support your case. The letter must be received on 
or before the administrative hearing date indicated on your ticket.

Pay Online:

You may also pay a parking ticket or a red light ticket online at the City of Dallas Online Parking and Safelight Ticket Payment System using Visa, Master Card and American Express. If you have questions, please contact the Dallas Customer Service Center toll free at 866-247-1951.

Recently issued parking tickets may not be immediately available for online payment. If your ticket number is not on file, please try back later or contact us at 866-247-1951. Thank you.

Appeal Process Parking:

If you are not satisfied with the results of your adjudication hearing, the registered owner of the vehicle may appeal in person to the Dallas Municipal Court within 30 calendar days after the date the Hearing Officer's order is issued (file date on the Hearing Record).

  • a $15.00 filing fee (*refundable only if the Hearing Officer's order is reversed)

    Forms that are not required, but is strongly encouraged to bring to help ensure a timely process:
  • Copy of the Citation
  • Copy of the Hearing Record
