​​​Program Year  2016-2017

Existing And New Homes Homebuyer Assistance

  • Eligible Households may receive up to $14,000​​ (Subject to change)
  • DHAP funds are available to eligible homebuyers purchasing a home as a primary residence
  • Up to $1,500 may be used for minor repairs on existing properties as required by the Minimum Housing Standards (MHS). 
  • Up to $4,000 may be used for closing cost assistance
  • Sales price of the purchase property cannot exceed $195,000-Existing, $224,000-New Homes 
  • Properties occupied by a tenant other than seller/borrower must be vacated for a period of 60 days prior to execution of a sales contract.

​NEW CONSTRUCTION: BY COMMUNITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (CHDO), ON LAND PURCHASED FROM THE LAND BANK, IN NEIGHBORHOOD INVESTMENT PROGRAM AREAS, OR IN SPECIAL TARGET AREA SELECTED BY THE HOUSING/NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION DEPARTMENT

  • Eligible Households may receive up to $20,000 (Subject to change)
  • DHAP funds are available to eligible homebuyers purchasing a newly constructed home as a primary residence
  • Up to $4,000 may be used for closing cost assistance 
  • Sales price of the purchase property cannot exceed $224,000
  • List of Certified CHDOs

Both Types Of Assistance Require The Following:

  • Property must be located within the city limits of Dallas
  • Total Household Income must be 80% or less than the Dallas Area Median Family Income (AMFI) based on household size
  • Property must meet Minimum Housing Standards (MHS).  Homebuyer must receive Pre-Purchase Education by a DHAP and HUD approved agency

Additional Homebuyer Assistance

  • The City of Dallas Mortgage Credit Certificate Program (MCC) managed by First Southwest Company (www.fschousing.com) so homebuyers may also receive a Federal Income Tax Credit
