The Disaster Preparedness Program engages citizens, families, and neighborhood leaders in discussion and activities on what it means to be prepared for emergencies. This interactive program introduces participant to the basics of preparedness through being informed of local hazards, making a plan, and building a kit. These steps make resilience faster and easier.
The program has three Modules:
MODULE ONE: Online Education
This module consists of educational videos: Know Your Hazards, Make a Plan, Build a Kit
MODULE TWO: Disaster Preparedness
An interactive, hands-on
presentation on how to be prepared for an emergency or disaster. Learn the
potential hazards in your community, how to be prepared, the difference between
shelter-in-place and evacuation, the different types of emergency kits and
emergency notifications; as well as resources and volunteer opportunities
available to you.
Participants of this module receive a basic emergency kit for completing the training.
MODULE THREE: Get Involved!
This module presents links and contact for further volunteer and training opportunities. We encourage you to become a Champion of Resilience in your community.
