The City of Dallas launched the Complete Streets Initiative to improve the way we design and build streets. The vision of the Dallas Complete Streets Initiative is to build streets that are safe and comfortable for everyone: young or old, wheelchair or walker users, motorists, bicyclists, bus, and train riders alike.

While traditionally we have focused design attention on the travel lanes between the street curbs, the Complete Streets Initiative considers the entire space between buildings on either side of the street. This initiative is aimed at a phased transformation of Dallas' street network through a combination of public street improvements and incremental private developments.
