How do I obtain a permit to open a restaurant?
To apply for a permit to open a restaurant or other food-related permits, visit the Food Protection and Education office at 7901 Goforth Road, Dallas, TX 75238. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. You must bring a valid photo identification, sales tax permit, and a $350 application free plus an additional $150 fee if plans are submitted for review. Can I cook food at home to sell?
No. All food intended for general public consumption, whether free or for sale, must be prepared at a commercial establishment that is inspected by a federal, state, or local health authority.
