District 1 Update

• The September 26, 2009 Graffiti sweep and clean up was a great success, with over 125 volunteers assisting with the clean up!  A big thanks to all participants for joining us in the fight against graffiti for the betterment of our community.

• Construction has begun on the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, 223 W. Jefferson Blvd.  Funded through the 2003 Bond Program, the center is scheduled to be completed in March 2010 and will be located next to the Texas Theatre.  The facility will comprise of approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of program space including gallery space and a dance studio.
• The Jefferson Blvd. Task Force has convened. The advisory group is working on a plan to help revitalize the Jefferson Blvd. area.
• The Texas Theatre is looking for operational help and building funds. Anyone interested should call Jason Roberts.
• The Oak Cliff Gateway Study continues to move forward.  The City Plan Commission will have a public hearing regarding the proposed plan amendments for the Oak Cliff Gateway Land Use Opportunity Plan on October 22.  For more information regarding the plan...
• The Davis Land Use Study Task Force will reconvene.
• The Kessler Theatre renovation continues. The theatre is located at 1230 W. Davis, in the Winnetka Heights Historic District.
