City of Dallas Update
Senate Bill 1119, Section 707.017 states that “If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Transportation may refuse to register a motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation".

The City of Dallas has partnered with the Dallas County Tax Assessor and other local cities to begin implementation in 2009. Therefore, motorists with outstanding red light citations WILL NOT be allowed to register their vehicle.
