The red light camera system uses either virtual radar or sensors to detect the presence of a vehicle before it reaches the stop bar which is the violation point. If a vehicle’s presence is detected moving during a red traffic signal, the camera initiates the capture of multiple digital images and a video clip. The image below shows the vehicle before the stop bar and the traffic signal light as red.
The image below shows the violating vehicle past the crosswalk, proceeding through the intersection during the red signal light.
The image below is a close-up shot of the violating vehicle's rear license plate.
