About Us

The Dallas City Attorney’s Office represents the City of Dallas in a wide variety of legal matters and is among the largest municipal legal departments in the nation. The Dallas City Attorney’s Office provides transactional and advisory services as general counsel, and litigation services, handling the bulk of lawsuits in-house.

    Our office drafts thousands of contracts, ordinances, and resolutions each year. Daily, we provide legal advice and counsel to city elected officials, city manager, city departments, and boards and commissions regarding Dallas’ strategic and progressive policies, laws, agreements, programs, projects, and services.

    Our Office handles hundreds of lawsuits and other civil matters involving the city every year. Additionally, our Office handles over 100,000 cases involving violations of city ordinances and state law that are filed annually in municipal court.
