​Mobile Food Permits

​Information

A mobile food unit is a vehicle mounted food product establishment designed to be readily movable (including, but not limited to, catering trucks and pushcarts) from which food is distributed, sold, or served to an ultimate consumer.

Applicants wishing to submit for a mobile food unit plan review, an application for a new health permit, or a renewal of a mobile health permit, must first schedule an appointment with our office.  Please call 214-670-1524 to schedule an appointment.  Mobile permitting inspections are not conducted at the Consumer Health office.  The permitting inspection will be scheduled at the mobile food units assigned commissary or vending location and will be conducted on Thursday's from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Types of Mobile Food Units

Mobile Food Preparation Vehicle

Defined as a commercially-manufactured, motorized mobile food establishment in which ready-to-eat food is cooked, wrapped, packaged, processed, or portioned for service, sale or distribution.

To submit an application, the following are needed: 

Brand New Truck or Change of Owner

  • Must submit 2 sets of blueprints & equipment specification sheets

  • Current Drivers License

  • Proof Of 6-months Liability Insurance

  • Written Agreement of property owner where vending

  • Notarized Commissary Approval Form

  • Registered Food Service Manager Certificate

  • Low Propane Gas Permit (if propane used)

  • License plate Vehicle VIN Number

  • Mobile Application Fee $286

  • Permit Fee $185

  • Plan Review $205

Annual Renewal Existing Truck

  • Current Drivers License

  • Proof Of 6-months Liability Insurance

  • License Plate Number

  • Low propane gas permit (if propane used)
