The Dallas City Marshal’s Office commitment to unbiased policing in all its encounters and ensure public confidence and trust.  Dallas Marshal’s shall perform their duties in a professional manner, without regard to race, ethnicity or national origin. Officers are strictly prohibited from engaging in racial profiling.  

Racial profiling are contacts initiated by law enforcement officers, such as a motor vehicle stop, a detention, a search, issuance of a citation, or an arrest based solely upon an individual's race, ethnicity, or national origin, or on the basis of racial or ethnic stereotypes, rather than upon the individual's behavior or on information identifying the individual as having engaged in criminal activity, or other lawful reasons for the law enforcement action. 

Any person who believes a Dallas City Marshal has engaged in racial profiling may file a complaint with the City, and no person shall be discouraged, intimidated, or coerced from filing such a complaint. Complaints may be filed at the Dallas Marshal’s Office or Dallas Police Department. 

Any peace officer who is found, after investigation, to have engaged in racial profiling in violation of this policy shall be subject to corrective action. 

The Dallas Marshal’s Office is providing this information as public education concerning racial profiling and the complaint process.
