What is Medic1?

Medic1 is a specialized response team created through a partnership between the City of Dallas Office of Emergency Management and Crisis Response (EMCR) and Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) to support the Downtown–Central Business District.

What type of calls does Medic1 respond to?

Dispatched through the Dallas Fire-Rescue Dispatch Center, Medic1 responds to certain non-life-threatening calls such as welfare checks, minor injuries, and mental health-related situations. The team focuses on providing immediate help and connecting people to services and resources that can offer ongoing support.

Why Medic1 Matters

As Downtown Dallas continues to grow, calls for service have increased. Medic1 helps ensure the right response is sent to the right call, easing the demand on fire engines and ambulances while still meeting community needs.

Who, when, and where does Medic1 operate?

Medic1 is staffed by one EMCR Crisis Coordinators and one Dallas Fire-Rescue Paramedic. The team operates seven days per week from 7:00AM to 7:00PM and works closely with Dallas Fire-Rescue Stations 4 and 18, the Office of Homeless Solutions, the Dallas Police Central Patrol Division, and Downtown Dallas, Inc.
