LLICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS:
EEMS Certification Requirements
• Valid/current Texas Paramedic License issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or equivalent license AND National Paramedic Registry Certification
• Candidates with licensure from other states must obtain the Texas Paramedic License before the completion of the Dallas Fire Academy
Fire Certification Requirements
• Valid/current Basic Structural Firefighter Certificate (or higher) from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) OR from another state with the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) seal.

• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be a U.S. Citizen (birth or naturalized). If you are not a United States’ citizen, your immigration status must be current and must permit you to work a full-time job in this country. Applicants must have a valid Social Security card. If you have questions about your immigration status or work permit, please contact United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
• Military discharge status must be “HONORABLE” (if applicable)
• No felony convictions
• No class A misdemeanor convictions within the last five (5) years
• No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last two (2) years
• No more four (4) class C misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years
• Must not have committed or have been convicted of driving with a suspended license within the last 12 months
• Must not currently be on probation for DWI or other traffic offenses
• Must not be on probation for any crime at the time of application.
• Must not be under criminal investigation during the application process
• Must not have any outstanding traffic warrants or pending citations
• Must pass physical abilities test to be administered by the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department
ONLINE Exam Description: Exam covers basic math skills, reading comprehension, ability to read and interpret maps/Mapsco, and industrial measurement. Time Limit: Three (3) hours.
