CARES Act- Coronavirus Relief Fund Rental Assistance Program

The City of Dallas launched a new CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) Emergency Short Term Rental Assistance Program in partnership with DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas (DHA) and several local nonprofits, including the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas collaborative, Human Rights Initiative, Voice of Hope and Refugee Services of Texas.

The Department of Housing & Revitalization allocated a total of $6 million to DHA and local nonprofits to administer CARES Act CRF Emergency Short-Term Rental Assistance. DHA received $4.5 million through an interlocal agreement and presented a strategic plan based on equity indicators that would distribute funds through  regular lottery drawings in City Council districts. The remaining $1.5 million was distributed among the nonprofits based on the strength of their applications in the Request For Application evaluation criteria.
