In January 2018, 38 bold employees enrolled in two new Master’s Degree programs being offered at Dallas City Hall.  Approximately 20 employees enrolled in the University of North Texas (UNT) – Denton MPA program and 18 enrolled in the Amberton MBA Program. Both programs consist of diverse employees, employed at varying levels within the organization, from multiple departments, including ACM Majed Al-Ghafry.  This will feature the UNT- Denton Program; next month, you will be updated on the Amberton Program and its graduate; and learn more about our other educational partners and their offerings!

UNT employee students enrolled in 6 hours per semester; all who started are expected to complete their coursework in July 2019; take a comprehensive exam in September 2019; and graduate with a Master of Public Administration in December 2019!

May 13–17, 2019, our UNT MPA employee/students enrolled in “State and Local Government Management – the Austin Seminar.”  The participants paid for the class on their own as well as their room and board while in Austin.  The course syllabus had 14 references to local government being the focus of the studies while there in Austin.  They sat through lectures, met and engaged with lawmakers, and did homework after-hours.  They say it was an intense but good experience!  The employee-student benefited with a grade/course credit…but ultimately, the city of Dallas organization should also reap the reward through a more enlightened, engaged employee with enhanced knowledge that can benefit our organization as well as the residents that we serve!
