Infants and young children need all the same things in an emergency kits as adults do PLUS additional items unique to being younger. 

When building or updating your emergency kit, think about what else your child might need.

For Infants:

  • Formula
  • Baby Food and utensils
  • Bottles
  • Powdered or shelf-stable milk
  • Medications
  • Moist towel​ettes/wipes
  • Diapers
  • Diaper rash ointment
For Young Children:
  • Non-perishable snacks
  • Toys, games, puzzles
  • Books
  • Comfort items - like a blanket or favorite stuffed animal

Having copies of medical records, as well as other important documents like birth certificates in both digital formats and hard copies is important in emergencies.

Make emergency planning fun for children. Bring the family together, maybe over a pizza or before watching your favorite movie and make a plan.
