Thunderstorms are dangerous storms often with rain, lightning, and wind.  Thunderstorms are associated with hazards like flash floods, hail, and tornadoes.

Some storms are called Dry Thunderstorms . These occur when rain evaporates before reaching the ground, but the storm still  produces lightning. Dry thunderstorms are more common in the Western United States.

 Lightning is common with thunderstorms and be deadly. Lightning kills 51 people and causes hundreds of injuries on average each year in the US.
