City of Dallas-Americorps VISTA Program

The City of Dallas Americorps VISTA Program, is funded in part by the Corporation for National and Community Service.  This Mayor driven Initiative was created to reinvigorate and inspire neighborhoods in traditionally underserved parts of the City and to advance growSouth objectives. Twenty-four (24) volunteers are working collaboratively to create safer communities and  connect residents to partners, programs and services. City resources, community members, and programs through partnerships to enhance collective impact and enrich local neighborhoods.

Since its inception, the VISTA Team has:

  • Revived 28 Neighborhood Associations
  • Started 4 new Neighborhood Associations
  • Mobilized 2,108 community volunteers
  • Spearheaded 109 Community events/projects that included
    • Tree plantings
    • Curb and Mural Paintings
    • Painting home exteriors
    • Membership Walks, Code Walks & Community Clean-ups
  • Generated over $421,032.79 of In-kind (materials and volunteer hours) resources to neighborhoods
