On September 15, 2022, the City Plan Commission (CPC) recommended approval, with modifications, to the West Oak Cliff Area Plan.  Review the CPC Recommended Plan here (Spanish translation in process).

The City Council public hearing and adoption of this plan was on October 26, 2022.

About the Plan

With numerous locations in Oak Cliff interested in exploring changes to their zoning, District 1 Councilmember Chad West recommended Planning and Urban Design initiate the West Oak Cliff Area Planning effort to help create a future land use vision for the area. The planning effort created a taskforce of local community leaders in mid-2020 and began community engagement efforts in Fall 2020. Engagement efforts have been ongoing, and the effort will continue into next year, with the goal of adoption by mid-2022. The planning effort will parallel the update to the city's Comprehensive Land Use Plan update.

The West Oak Cliff Area Planning initiative began in 2020 by City Councilmember Chad West and the Planning and Urban Design Department. This area of Oak Cliff has numerous areas that are upcoming authorized hearing locations for rezoning. Additionally, this area also contains three DART light-rail stations with potential opportunities for transit-oriented development nearby. This planning effort will work to help create a land use and land development vision for this area. The Plan will be done in parallel with the update to the ForwardDallas Comprehensive Land Use Plan update and will be incorporated into that update upon adoption.
