What is a Comprehensive Land-use Plan Ambassador?
Through the forwardDallas! Comprehensive Land-use Plan Ambassador Program, we are looking for civic-minded professional and community volunteers who want to be involved in raising awareness of the forwardDallas! Comprehensive Land-use Plan Update by following PUD on social media, sharing posts on personal social media pages, re-posting and re-tweeting posts about the Plan. In addition, Ambassadors can spread awareness of the Plan during personal social gatherings in-person or via web-based platforms. While raising awareness, questions may arise, therefore, a debrief form has been created to capture questions and comments. The Ambassador Program can be viewed as a training opportunity for those who may aspire to serve as neighborhood leaders in the future, if not already doing so. Ambassadors are volunteers who will play a critical role in shaping the future land-use of our City [and their community]. As a Comprehensive Land-use Plan Ambassador, you will be trained and empowered to lead conversations within your own social circles, professional organizations, neighborhood groups, faith-based circles and at the student level, about land use, zoning, city-wide planning, area planning, and other topics.
I am interesterested in volunteering, what are the next steps?
We estimate that the total time commitment for a Plan Ambassador will be about 20 hours during the various stages of the Plan update. And it’s easy to get started!

In late September, you will host your first gathering to raise awareness of the Plan and describe how others can get involved during the various stages of the Plan update.
After each of your gatherings, we ask that you share notes and input from your conversation by completing the Plan Ambassador Debrief Worksheet, which will be provided to you.
Raising awareness of the Plan and specifying how to get involved will help amplify the Plan’s importance, the Plan will be developed and used to help shape land-use decisions by the City and developers to achieve a Citywide vision
