Environmental management system

​An Environmental Management System (EMS) is the business system of "plan, do, check, and act" applied to the management of environmental issues. Organizations who have implemented an EMS have experienced numerous benefits, including improved compliance, reduction of environmental impacts, cost reductions and improved staff understanding of environmental issues.  The Dallas City Council adopted an Environmental Policy in January 2005. This policy commits the City of Dallas to environmental compliance, pollution prevention and continual improvement.


Sanitation's Commitment


The Department of Sanitation Services is committed to continual improvement in its environmental performance and the prevention of pollution.

The Department of Sanitation Services is committed to complying with all relevant environmental laws, regulations and City of Dallas' policies/procedures governing environmental performance.

Department of Sanitation's Environmental Management System will set environmental go​als, reduce its impact on the environment, track compliance with regulations and improve its overall environmental performance.
