Michael Rogers joined Dallas to advance the city's mission through effective transportation improvements and efficient mobility for its citizens. As Director of Transportation, his goal is to implement a safe and inclusive transportation system for the City of Dallas through Empathy, Ethics, Excellence and Equity.
Michael was Director of Transportation in Raleigh, North Carolina and responsible for the passage of a $2.38B Wake County Transit bond. As Public Works Director in Peoria, Illinois, he negotiated with EPA, for the 1st 100% green infrastructure solution for a Combined Sewer Overflow consent decree. As the Assistant Director of Public Works in San Antonio, Michael facilitated a $700M Infrastructure bond project.
He began his working career on Intelligent Transportation Systems and autonomous vehicles in the early 1990's with the Michigan Department of Transportation. Prior to municipal government he gained valuable work experience in the private sector as founder and owner of a 5-Star Engineering Consulting firm. His passion is using emerging technologies to address community mobility, environmental, and social problems.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University.
