Text Notifications Terms & Conditions

Effective date: April 21, 2026

These Text Notifications Terms & Conditions (“SMS Terms") apply to DWU customers who choose to receive account-related text messages through DallasGo, DWU's customer self-service portal.

1) What this service is

DWU Text Notifications is an optional service that sends certain account and service-related notifications to the mobile number you provide in your DallasGo profile.

2) How you enroll (consent/opt-in)

You enroll by logging into your DallasGo profile, navigating to Global Settings, and entering and saving a mobile phone number (and/or toggling Text Notifications “ON"). Submitting your number and enabling Text Notifications constitutes your consent for DWU to send text messages to that number for the purposes described in this policy.

Important: You are responsible for providing an accurate mobile number and keeping it current in DallasGo.

3) What kinds of messages DWU may send

Text Notifications may include transactional, non-marketing messages such as:

  • Payment confirmations or payment-related status updates
  • Billing reminders (e.g., bill ready, due date reminders)
  • Account notices (e.g., confirmation of preference changes)
  • Service-related alerts (e.g., service advisories, major outage or disruption updates where applicable)

No disconnection notices by text: DWU disconnection notices are sent by postal mail only. DWU does not call or text customers before service disconnections. If you receive a call or text about your account status, do not provide any information. If you are concerned about your account's status, call DWU Customer Service at 214-651-1441 to speak to our staff or use DallasGo to review your account's details.

4) Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your account activity, preferences and service events (e.g., billing cycles, payment events or service advisories).

5) Cost

DWU does not charge a fee to receive Text Notifications. However, message and data rates may apply, depending on your wireless plan.

6) How to opt out (stop messages)

Log into your DallasGo profile, navigate to Global Settings and toggle the Text Notifications setting “OFF" (or remove your mobile number).

If you later want to re-enroll, you may do so through DallasGo by switching the Text Notifications setting to “ON" and/or re-entering your mobile number.

7) Help/support

For help with DWU Text Notifications, contact DWU Customer Service at 214-651-1441 (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).

8) Delivery and carrier responsibility

Text message delivery is subject to your mobile carrier's network availability. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
DWU is not responsible for any delays, failures or misdirected messages caused by:

  • Inaccurate/changed mobile numbers,
  • Carrier/network issues,
  • Device limitations, or
  • Customer account settings

9) Privacy and use of your mobile number

DWU uses the mobile number you provide only to deliver the Text Notifications service and to support account-related communications you have opted into.

DWU's handling of customer account information is subject to applicable confidentiality and privacy requirements.

For more information, please review the City of Dallas Privacy Policy.

10) Changes to this policy

DWU may update these SMS Terms from time to time. The “Effective date" will be updated when changes are posted. Your continued enrollment after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
