  • ​The plant is owned by the City of Dallas and officially opened in 1917       
  • Located on over 300 acres of land, it is the second-largest wastewater treatment plant in Texas                  
  • The plant is regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and operates under TCEQ Permit WQ0010060001                            
  • The plant discharges clean effluent into the Trinity River and has over 250 million gallons of overflow storage capacity                     
  • Approximately two-thirds of the City of Dallas' wastewater is treated here                         
  • There are over 50 buildings on the plant's premises                            
  • The plant is protected from flooding by a levee
  •  Birds use the plant as a stopover during migration seasons
