Members of Building Inspection Advisory, Examining & Appeals Boards

Board members are appointed by the city council upon nomination by the city manager and serve without compensation. Meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of each month (except July), as needed.

 

Members of the commission must meet the following qualifications:
(1) all requirements in City Code, Chapter 8, Sec. 1-4;

(2) Two registered architects, each having at least five years experience in the practice of architecture;

(3) One registered engineer having at least five years experience in the practice of structural engineering;

(4) One registered engineer having at least five years experience in the practice of fire protection engineering;

(5) One general building contractor having at least five years experience in the construction of commercial buildings;

(6) One builder having at least five years experience in residential construction;

(7) One registered master electrician having at least five years active experience as an electrical contractor in electrical construction of commercial and industrial buildings;

(8) One registered master electrician having at least five years active experience as an electrical contractor in electrical construction of residential buildings;

(9) One registered electrician having at least five years active experience as an electrician, and who at the time of appointment is not a registered electrical contractor;

(10) One person having at least five years experience in electrical design or supervision, who is familiar with the requirements of the National Electrical Code and the rules and regulations of the Dallas Power and Light Company and who may be an employee of the TU Electric Company; 

(11) One registered plumbing contractor having at least five experience in the installation of plumbing in the construction of residential buildings;

(12) One registered plumbing contractor having at least five years experience in the installation of plumbing in the construction of commercial and industrial buildings;

(13) One heating, ventilating, and air conditioning contractor having at least five years experience in the installation of mechanical equipment in the construction of residential buildings;

(14) One heating, ventilating, and air conditioning contractor having at least five years experience in the installation of mechanical equipment in the construction of commercial buildings;

(15) One registered professional engineer having at least five years  experience in the practice of mechanical engineering; and

(16) One person who has an active record of participation in community affairs, who shall not have voting privileges.
