About the Martin Luther King Jr Community Center Board

The advisory Board advises and advocate for the needs of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center by ensuring that the education and necessary tools are available to improve the economic and social well-being of the community by providing world class services to all that need them. The Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager. The Board makes recommendations to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Manager concerning programs and policies within the service center.

Mission

To be a catalyst for positive change through educating, informing, and transforming the lives of each person that comes to the center.

Purpose

The commission shall act as an advisory body to the city manager concerning programs and policies within the service center

Duties

Makes recommendations to the city center manager concerning programs and policies within the service center;
Promotes and provides direct health and human services and programming which will assist individuals and families in becoming economically self-sufficient.
Submits an annual report to the city council in accordance with Section 8-1.1 of this Code.
