About the Reinvestment Zone Board

The board of directors make recommendations to the City Council concerning the administration of the City's tax increment financing (TIF) programs. The boards may prepare and adopt a final project plan and reinvestment zone financing plan for TIF Districts and submit such plans to the City Council for approval. The boards possess all powers necessary to prepare, implement, and monitor such project plan for the specific TIF District. The City of Dallas currently has nineteen active TIF districts. The creation of new districts is considered based on set criteria and requires the approval of Dallas City Council.

Mission

To promote redevelopment, stabilization, and growth of TIF District areas. An accompanying goal is the stabilization and growth of the value of the area's tax base and a positive reversal of urban decay.

Purpose

To make recommendations to the City Council concerning the administration of the TIF Districts.

Duties

Make recommendations to the City Council concerning the administration of the TIF District;
Prepare and adopt a final project plan and reinvestment zone financing plan and must submit such plans to the City Council for its approval;
Prepare, implement, and monitor such project plans for the TIF Districts, as the City Council considers advisable, including the submission of an annual report on the status of the specific TIF District.
