Joey Zapata has served the City of Dallas since 1994. He was appointed assistant city manager in November 2011, and is responsible for overseeing the Department of Convention and Event Services, Sanitation Services, Building Services, the Dallas Public Library, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and Liaison to the Park & Recreation Department.
Prior to serving in his current position, Joey was Director of Code Compliance, an assistant director in Court & Detention Services, and an assistant director in Environmental & Health Services. Joey's first position with the City was as an intern with the Mayor and City Council office.
Joey is a native of Eagle Pass, Texas, a graduate of Texas A&M University, and a current resident of Dallas's Farmers Market area.
