Jon Fortune has over 30 years of public service experience in local government, and a diverse portfolio managing municipal operations. In June 2017, Jon was appointed Assistant City Manager for Public Safety for the City of Dallas, and is responsible for the Police and Fire Departments, Office of Emergency Management, and Courts and Detention.
Jon is a credentialed manager with the International City Management Association, and prior to coming to the City of Dallas, Jon served as Assistant City Manager for Denton, Texas. His Denton experience includes leadership and oversight of Public Safety, Finance and Budget, Development Services, Utility Operations, Denton Enterprise Airport, and Economic Development.
An Oklahoma native, Jon received a master's degree in Public Administration from the University of North Texas, a bachelor's degree in Public Affairs and Administration from the University of Oklahoma, and recently completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard University.
