The Dallas City Council adopts a tax rate for property taxes each September when the budget is approved. The Dallas County Tax Office bills and collects all property taxes for the City of Dallas. Tax bills are due January 31. The Dallas County Tax Office has issued a Public Service Announcement to pay taxes by January 31, 2024, to avoid penalties. “All seven of the Dallas County Tax Office locations are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist taxpayers with their property tax payments, but we encourage taxpayers to pay online whenever possible to avoid the crowds,” stated John R. Ames, Dallas County Tax Assessor/Collector.
