All dogs and cats in the city of Dallas must be microchipped. The information on the microchip including owner name, address and contact information, must be kept current (updated within 30 days of a change).
A microchip is a permanent form of identification. About the size of a grain of rice, it is injected beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip can be read by a microchip reader that will pick up the chip's unique ID code to identify the pet. It is important to register your information with your microchip company, and keep your information current, even after your pet is microchipped. The clinic or shelter that implants the microchip can provide you with information on your chip's registration; there are also several free microchip databases available online.
This is a one-time cost for a pet owner. You can obtain a microchip from your veterinarian. Dallas Animal Services is currently NOT offering public microchips due to the COVID-19 emergency.

DAS offers microchipping services for just $10 per pet by appointment to the public. Make an appointment to get your pet microchipped.
You can also get your pet microchipped at your veterinarian's office and at many mobile clinics in the area. Spay Neuter Network offers pet microchipping for just $15.

Courts are now accepting online and in-person compliance dismissal request for our "Fix It Tickets."
This includes Criminal and Civil Citations for the following offenses:
A compliance dismissal allows the animal owner to submit the proof of compliance directly to the court and bypass going in front of the judge. The owner can visit the municipal court in person to submit their compliance documents, or they can go to their homepage at http://courts.dallascityhall.com (and then click "Resolve Your Ticket" on the left-hand side of the screen).
