Fleet Management provides full support to a City fleet of approximately 5,400 vehicles. The division is responsible for equipment specification, fleet assignment/management, vehicle inspection and maintenance, road call assistance, alternative fuels program, paint and body repairs, equipment modification and fabrication, and outside equipment rental.
Fleet Maintenance Operations
Fleet Management provides mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, state inspections, vehicle emissions testing, lubrication, fueling and road call (24-hour basis) for all City vehicles from five service centers. Fleet Management also provides specialty shops for heavy equipment maintenance and welding. Fleet service center locations are below.

Fleet Operation & Assignment
Fleet Management prepares equipment specifications and replacement schedules. The division also coordinates vehicle purchases and vehicle assignment with customer departments. Additionally, Fleet Management coordinates vehicle change outs, new vehicle preparation, vehicle rebuilding and disposal of retired vehicles. The division also identifies compatible alternative fuel fleet to replace traditional fuel fleet in the City of Dallas inventory.
Fleet Parts Inventory
This division provides parts inventory support at all repair locations. The division also operates and manages fleet salvage parts which provides additional used repair parts, and conducts inventories and repair of vehicle tires.
Fleet Training
Fleet Training provides classroom and hands-on training for automobile specialists who maintain and repair traditional and alternative fuel vehicles driven by customer departments.
Motor Pool
In an effort to enhance customer service and continue to advance the City's commitment to environmental stewardship, EFM implemented the Motor Pool Program in May of 2013. The Motor Pool is a group of shared vehicles that can be reserved and checked out by City employees, as needed for City business, rather than utilizing their own personal vehicles or department administrative vehicles. Not only does the Motor Pool improve EFM's service to its customers, but it also reduces vehicle emissions in two ways: 1) by allowing employees to share City vehicles rather than taking separate personal or departmental vehicles when traveling to the same location, and 2) through the inclusion and use of alternative fuel vehicles in the Motor Pool which emit fewer pollutants than do traditionally fueled vehicles.
There are currently 23 vehicles in the Motor Pool program, identified below. The following vehicles are available at each location:
