Training and Support Services

Under the command of Assistant Chief Daniel Salazar, the bureau's operations include responsibility for Recruit Training, In-Service Training, Emergency and non-emergency fleet acquisition and maintenance, Firefighting gear, clothing and EMS supply inventory management.  The bureau also oversees and liaisons with the City of Dallas Building Services Department to maintain its 59 fire stations and facilities.  Collaborating with the City of Dallas Bond and Construction Management Office, the bureau also plans for design and construction of replacement fire stations.  During late 2021, new replacement fire station 46 reopened in the South Oak Cliff area of Dallas.  A handful of fire stations are scheduled to open during 2022 and 2023 with two (2) fire stations replaced due to damage sustained during inclement weather.  The department welcomes opening newer fire station facilities with their modernized design.

Logistics Support operations personnel are responsible for preventative maintenance and mechanical support services of the department's emergency apparatus and equipment, station support, and the Department's clothing and supply warehouse, which issues protective and station uniform clothing and all station supplies. The fleet maintenance facility has a total of 18 bays, a paint and body area including a downdraft paint booth, an expanded metal fabrication area, a dedicated apparatus wash facility, and a wood shop.

Chief Salazar is also the Program Coordinator for the department’s Adopt-A-Station program.  In an effort to provide an opportunity for citizens to embrace their local firefighters, Dallas Fire-Rescue established a program that allows “Adoption" of neighborhood firefighters and the fire stations they call home for one third of their lives. Donations can be made and are intended to better the lives of the firefighters as outlined in the Adopt-A-Station program guidelines.  To learn more about how you can support the department, please click on the Adopt-A-Station link.

Finally, the bureau's operations include a department-wide Environmental Management System to ensure we comply with environmental laws and regulations as we seek to optimize use of resources while minimizing any negative impact to the environment during emergency and non-emergency response.
