Urban Design Program

Purpose

The Urban Design Program is a City of Dallas collaborative effort undertaken to bring focus, coordination and a design consciousness, more consistently to the design, planning and development management processes of the City.

Method

The Urban Design Program will be focused on four basic directions toward better urban design performance in Dallas through a work program involving City staff,  civic organizations, the private sector, and the general community. These four directions are:

  • building an urban design understanding
  • developing an urban design policy
  • confirming urban design requirements as a part of public and private activities
  • coordinating urban design activities on a day-to-day basis

Over the next calendar year, this program will focus on development of a Urban Design definition, vision, and principles unique to the city of Dallas and it's diverse neighborhoods and geographies.

Check back with the website for updates regarding programs, events, and specific initiatives as the Urban Design Program continues to move forward.
