​The Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce membership received updated data on the state of the Dallas and DFW economy, employment and housing trends, and a variety of economic indicators. Additionally, the presentation introduced the Neighborhood Plus plan and the ​overarching goals of fostering vital neighborhoods throughout Dallas
and of thinking beyond just housing – to encompass education, health, mobility, business, and safety.

​04-16-2015​On April 16th of 2015 the City Planning Commission received a briefing on the Neighborhood Plus initiuative. The purpose of the briefing (Available here) was to:
  • Provide an overview of the Neighborhood Plus program and process undertaken to date​
  • Review data analysis that has shaped the recommended strategies presented today
  • Present six key strategies that comprise the backbone of the plan for Council consideration
  • Discuss the important next steps necessary to bring the Neighborhood Plus Plan to concl​usion and satisfy Dallas’ commitment to HUD

Core Partners Forum​

​The Core Partners Forum will focus on key housing and neighborhood development issues including: alleviating poverty, improving blighted neighborhoods, maintaining growth consistent with the region, attracting and retaining the middle class, building homeownership, and expanding rental housing options. Regional and local experts on these key issues will share their views and lead discussion during breakout sessions facilitated by City staff.
 
Who Should Attend:
Core partners in the areas of education, transportation, housing, health services, senior services, workforce development, daycare, retail and commercial services.

The InspireDallas plan seeks to understand the desires and needs of Dallas residents and families and engage partners who share a common vision and commitment to building quality, sustainable neighborhoods. We are reaching out to you to help us achieve this partnership. We need your help to identify the challenges the development community faces and the opportunities that can be leveraged through existing and new partnerships.
Please mark your calendars for December 8th your attendance is important.
 
Who Should Attend:
Developers of single-family and multi-family residential housing; infill, rehab and new construction. Other potential attendees include financial service organizations, community development corporations, commercial and retail developers.

National Night Out

​Join us for National Night out!
National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, which began in 1984 is an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
 
Below are National Night Out events where you can learn more about InspireDallas and speak with staff. As we confirm more national night events they will be added here.

Dallas Green Fest

Neighborhood Block Party

This is a city-wide party that is free for everyone! The City of Dallas is Currently developing a comprehensive housing plan that will help shape the future of living in our city. Come out and enjoy a family-friendly event and share your ideas on how we can make Dallas a better place to live!

Join the Mayor in kicking off the InspireDallas initiative. The Block Party will feature live music, raffles, food trucks and free sno-cones, popcorn, face painting and balloon art! Come learn more about the InspireDallas goals and process and tell us what makes your neighborhood great. Also, come learn more about neighborhood-based services that are available in your area.

Housing Workshop​

The City of Dallas is working on creating a comprehensive housing strategy. Homes, however, don’t stand alone – to be healthy, they’re part of a neighborhoods connected to a network of services and systems. The overall goal of the housing plus plan is to encourage the development of sustainable neighborhoods all over the city of Dallas. 

 As one of the first steps in drafting this plan, we’re hosting a workshop for the City Council to provide input on healthy neighborhoods in their districts, and examine the amenities, such as economic development, transportation, infrastructure, which enhance neighborhoods. The workshop will feature an overview of regional patterns and trends affecting housing in the region led by John Fregonese and break out work sessions/discussions with council members and a wealth of potential partner organizations. The focus will be on generating ideas for strategic programs involving partnerships that can make a difference in building and sustaining healthy Dallas neighborhoods.
