Interstate Forwarding Building

3200 Main Street

Constructed in 1913, the Interstate Forwarding Building is significant as an early example in Dallas of cast-in-place reinforced concrete with brick in-fill construction. Built as a fireproof storage warehouse, the building served as Dallas' point of entry for goods coming into the country with the Galveston district, as a direct result of a 1913 reorganization of the U.S. Customs Service. With a few exterior alterations, the building stands today as a visually and historically prominent building in Deep Ellum.
