Project Overview

The City of Dallas has committed to eliminating traffic-related deaths and reducing severe-injury crashes by 50 percent. These corridors have been prioritized because they are part of the city's high injury network (HIN) -- the 7 percent of Dallas roads that account for 62 percent of the city's fatal and severe injury crashes. Additionally, the corridors overlap with equity focus areas.

This project is currently in the initial study phase to identify what improvements to implement. This study aims to recommend improvements to address speeding, enhance travel by alternative modes of transportation, reduce severe traffic crashes, and improve the quality of life for all roadway users. Provide Input

TPW conducted initial surveys and a public comment period for the corridors in late 2024.

A joint public meeting for residents in Council Districts 5 and 7 was held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Prairie Creek Branch Library, 9609 Lake June Road.

View the materials and respond to the survey before May 31, 2025.

Other improvements

While we work on long term plans for the future of North Masters Drive and St. Augustine Road, the City has also been working on some near-term safety improvements for the corridors.

  • Streetlights have been fully converted to LED along both corridors
  • Along Masters Drive, designs have been completed for new traffic signals at the Checota Drive and Old Seagoville Road intersections. The city also recently completed a partial reconstruction of North Masters between Oak Gate Lane and Bruton Road.
  • Along St. Augustine Road, the traffic signal lights at the Lake June Road intersection and the Old Seagoville Road intersection will be completely upgraded in the next few years.
