Our community engagement strategy is designed to build relationships, conduct outreach activities, and ensure responsiveness to citizens' concerns through community stakeholder meetings. Collaborating with City departments, external agencies, groups, and residents is critical in conducting effective community engagement with the Dallas Department of Transportation.

Careers on Wheels

On June 11, 2021 the Dallas Department of Transportation participated in the Careers on Wheels Day at Leslie A. Stemmons Elementary School to educate students on careers in transportation and how vehicles help with those careers. Kids learned about working with traffic signals and were excited to see the bucket truck in action. They also learned about parking enforcement and got to see equipment used by enforcement officers.

National Bike Month

The Dallas Department of Transportation partnered with I-Bike Rosemont and Rosemont Elementary School during Bike to School Week. I-Bike Rosemont is an annual event at Rosemont Elementary in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, TX that encourages children to ride their bicycles to school. Our department assisted students with pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, and the installation of safety enhancement measures for bicycles.
