The Dallas Department of Transportation and Public Works hosts public meetings to provide information and gather public input on current and future initiatives that impact transportation planning, traffic safety and mobility in Dallas. Here is a list of public meetings conducted by the department. Any meetings hosted by external agencies are posted with links to their respective transportation initiatives.

​Colorado Boulevard at Tyler Street/Sylvan Avenue
TPW, along with Council District 1, hosted a public meeting on April 1, 2025, at Hitt Auditorium, 1441 N. Beckley Ave., in Dallas. At the meeting, attendees viewed and discussed proposed designs for the Colorado Boulevard/Tyler Street/Sylvan Avenue intersection. Public comments were accepted through April 30, 2025.

​Military Parkway Corridor Study
TPW hosted a public meeting on April 1, 2025, at Urban Park Elementary School, 6901 Military Parkway, in Dallas. Attendees reviewed and discussed proposed transportation safety improvements along Military Parkway between Forney Road and South Buckner Boulevard. Public comments were accepted through April 30, 2025.

​Downtown Elmwood Streetscape Improvement Project
Council District 1 and TPW hosted a public meeting on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 1300 Polk Street in Dallas. At the meeting, residents reviewed and provided comments on the preliminary designs for the Downtown Elmwood Streetscape Improvements Project. Public comments were accepted through Friday, April 25, 2025.

​2025 Dallas Bike Plan - Final comment period
TPW has opened the final public comment period for the 2025 Dallas Bike Plan update. The plan will update the implementation plan first established in 1975 and updated in 2011. The updated plan includes changes that were added from prior comment periods. Online public meetings will be scheduled. Public comments were accepted through March 30, 2025.

Webb Chapel/Lombardy Lane Transportation Safety Study
TPW hosted a public meeting to discuss proposed traffic safety improvements along Webb Chapel Road and Lombardy Lane, between Harry Hines Boulevard and Shorecrest Drive on March 4, 2025, at Bachman Lake Recreation Center, 12750 Bachman Drive. This corridor is on the high injury network, according to the city's Vision Zero Action Plan. Public comments were accepted through March 23, 2025.

Beacon/Graham Connections Project
TPW hosted a public meeting to discuss transportation connections along South Beacon Street and Graham Avenue from Columbia Avenue/Abrams Road to Samuell Blvd and East Grand Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at Samuell-Grand Recreation Center, 6200 E Grand Ave, Dallas, TX 75223. Residents gave input on alternative roadway configurations to enhance multimodal connections between Abrams Road, the Santa Fe Trail, and Samuell-Grand Park, as well as to slow vehicle speeds on the corridor. Public comments are being accepted through Feb. 28, 2025.

West Camp Wisdom Transportation Safety Study
TPW hosted a second public meeting to discuss recommended transportation safety improvements and resident input for Camp Wisdom Road between South Cockrell Hill Road and IH 35E. The meeting was held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at Birdie Alexander Elementary School, 1830 Goldwood Drive, in Dallas. Public comments were accepted through Jan. 26, 2025.

​Abrams/Skillman Transportation Safety Study
TPW hosted a second public meeting to discuss recommended transportation safety improvements that accounted for resident input for Abrams Road between Richmond Avenue and Northwest Highway, and for Skillman Street between Live Oak Street and Abrams Road. The meeting was held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Lakewood Branch Library, 6121 Worth St., in Dallas. This meeting was a follow-up meeting to a Sept. 10, 2024, public discussion about this corridor. Public comments were accepted through Jan. 10, 2025.

Haskell Avenue/Peak Street Two-Way Conversion
TPW staff hosted a public meeting to present transportation safety alternatives for Haskell Avenue and Peak Street between Lemmon Avenue and East Grand Avenue on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N. Peak St., Dallas, TX 75246. Public comments were accepted through Dec. 31, 2024.

​Oak Farms Area Transportation Corridor Study
The City of Dallas and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) conducted a joint meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at HITT Auditorium on North Beckley Avenue for separate transportation corridor studies in the Oak Farms Area of northern Oak Cliff. Public comments were accepted through Nov. 29, 2024.

Maple Avenue Transportation Safety Study
TPW hosted a second public meeting for this project on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, and a follow-up community discussion on Nov. 1, 2024, both at Reverchon Recreation Center, 3505 Maple Ave., in Dallas. Public comments were accepted through Nov. 20, 2024.

McKinney/Cole Avenue Two-Way Conversion
TPW hosted a public meeting to discuss the two-way conversion project along McKinney and Cole avenues between Allen Street and Harvard Avenue. The meeting was held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at William B. Travis Academy, 3001 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204. Public comments were accepted through Oct. 16, 2024.

Loop 12 Town Hall Meeting & Forum
TPW officials along with representatives of the Texas Department of Transprotation, North Central Texas Council of Governments, and DART will participate in a second town hall discussion about Loop 12 traffic safety coordinted by State Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas) on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy at A. Maceo Smith High School, 3030 Stag Road, Dallas, TX, 75241. Residents will give input on solutions to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities and ways to enhance driver safety along Loop 12. This forum is a follow-up to a May meeting.

Cesar Chavez Boulevard Corridor Study
DTPW, along with Council District 2, hosted a meeting to discuss a transportation safety study and proposed improvements for Cesar Chavez Boulevard between Central Expressway (U.S. 75) and IH 30 on  Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at the Harwood Park Community Room, 408 S. Harwood St., in Dallas. Public comments were accepted through Oct. 1, 2024.

Abrams Road/Skillman Street Corridor Studies
DTPW hosted a joint-meeting on transportation and safety studies for Abrams Road between Richmond Avenue and Northwest Highway, and for Skillman Street between Live Oak Street and Abrams Road on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Ridgewood-Belcher Recreation Center, 6818 Fisher Rd., in Dallas. Comments were accepted through Sept. 30, 2024.

​Mountain Creek Parkway Transportation Safety Study
DDOT hosted a public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at Mountain Creek Branch Library, 6102 Mountain Creek Parkway. Department staff presented findings for its transportation safety study of Mountain Creek Parkway between IH 20 and Clark Road (the Dallas city limits). Public comments were accepted through Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.

Maple Avenue Transportation Safety Study
DDOT hosted a public meeting on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, for a transportation and safety study of Maple Avenue at Reverchon Recreation Center, 3505 Maple Ave., in Dallas. Public comments were accepted through Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024.

​Lake June Road Corridor Study
DDOT hosted an in-person meeting on May 21, 2024, and a community meeting (in Spanish) on July 18, 2024, both at Dallas College - Pleasant Grove Center, 802 S. Buckner Blvd. Department staff presented findings for its study of Lake June Road between US 175 and Cheyenne Road. Comments were accepted through Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Military Parkway Transportation Safety Study
DDOT hosted a community kickoff meeting for a transportation and safety study of Military Parkway. The meeting was conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Skyline Branch Library, 6006 Everglade Road, in Dallas.

Malcolm X Boulevard Corridor Study
DDOT hosted a community kickoff meeting on Saturday, July 13, 2024, 
at the MLK Branch Library, 2922 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd., in Dallas. The department received comments on potential transportation and safety improvements along Malcolm X Boulevard between Elsie Faye Heggins Street and Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard. Comments were accepted through Monday, July 22, 2024.

​West Camp Wisdom Road Corridor Study
DDOT presented engineers' findings on a transportation and safety study of West Camp Wisdom Road between Cockrell Hill Road and IH-35 during a meeting on June 25, 2024, at Polk-Wisdom Branch Library, 7151 Library Lane, in Dallas. Comments were accepted through July 12, 2024.

DDOT hosted a series of meetings across the city regarding proposals for the Dallas Bike Plan.  Comments were accepted through July 7, 2024.

​Joppa Neighborhood Project Community Meeting
DDOT hosted an in-person community meeting on May 16, 2024, at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church to discuss the ongoing Joppa Neighborhood Project. The meeting included updates on the status of designs for the Union Pacific Railroad pedestrian bridge, proposed safety enhancements along Carbondale Street, and pedestrian crossing improvements at Carbondale Street/Loop 12 (Great Trinity Forest Way). Comments were accepted through Friday, June 7, 2024.

​Abrams Road/Skillman Street Corridor Study Surveys
DDOT sought input regarding existing conditions along Abrams Road and Skillman Street. The information will help determine strategies for safety and mobility improvements. Public comments were accepted through May 30, 2024.

Park Lane and Fair Oaks Avenue Enhancements 
DDOT proposes Complete Streets mobility and safety enhancements along Park Lane from Greenville Avenue to Abrams Road, and along Fair Oaks Avenue from Ridgecrest Road to Walnut Hill Lane. Complete Streets are designed and operated to enable safe use and to support mobility for all users. An in-person meeting was held on April 23, 2024. Public comments were accepted through May 28, 2024.

​Loop 12 Town Hall Meeting & Forum
DDOT participated in a town hall coordinated by Texas State Sen. Royce West (D-Dallas) on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Dr. Frederick D. Todd Middle School, 2445 E. Ledbetter Drive, Dallas, TX 75216. Also present were representatives of the Texas Department of Transportation and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). The town hall addressed solutions to crashes and fatalities along the Loop 12 corridor and fielded questions from residents. A follow-up forum will be scheduled later this year.

​Shared Dockless Vehicle Program Rule Changes

DDOT proposed changes to its shared dockless vehicle program as the annual permit application process began. An in-person public meeting was held on April 10, 2024. Public comments were accepted through April 20, 2024.

​Ferguson Road Corridor Study

The Dallas Department of Transportation (DDOT) presented engineers' recommendations for potential improvements along Ferguson Road between Interstates 30 and 635 during a public meeting conducted on Feb. 29, 2024. The public comment period closed on April 5, 2024.

​Jackson Street Two-Way Bike Lane

DDOT proposed a two-way, barrier-separated bike lane along Jackson Street in downtown Dallas that would connect Harwood Park with the AT&T Discovery District. A public meeting was held on March 26, 2024, at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 1515 Young St.

​West Clarendon Drive Corridor Study

DDOT received public comments on recommendations for potential roadway improvements along two miles of West Clarendon Drive, between South Tyler Street and South Westmoreland Road. A public meeting was held on Feb. 22, 2024. The public comment period closed on March 14, 2024.

​Mockingbird Lane Pedestrian Improvements

DDOT has proposed pedestrian improvements along Mockingbird Lane between U.S. 75 and Greenville Avenue; and Greenville Avenue between SMU Boulevard and Lovers Lane. Improvements may include updates to sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks, traffic signals, and lighting. A public meeting was held on Feb. 22, 2024. The public comment period closed on March 8, 2024.

​Ross Avenue Roadway Improvements 

DDOT has proposed improvements that include widening the existing sidewalk on the north side of Ross Avenue to accommodate a 10- to 12-foot-wide shared use path in the existing right-of-way. Sidewalks on the south side of Ross Avenue would be replaced to accommodate Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps and aid in mobility. Medians two- to 13-feet-wide would be installed in the center of Ross Avenue. A public meeting was held on Jan. 17, 2024. The public comment period closed Feb. 20, 2024.

Safe Routes to School

DDOT held in-person public informational meetings regarding upcoming Safe Routes to Schools (SRTS) Projects. More information about SRTS is available here from the US Department of Transportation. Please click on “flyer” next to each project for full project details and contact information.
