About the Environmental Commission

The Environmental Commission (EVC) is a group of appointed community advocates who advise the City Council on implementation of the Comprehensive Environmental & Climate Action Plan (CECAP) and other environmental matters as they arise. The EVC has fifteen voting members appointed by each Council Member and the Mayor, eight Technical Panel members appointed by the City Manager, each with expertise in one area of the CECAP, and five subcommittees with additional members of the public.

Mission

To advise the City Council on the environment, sustainability and implementation of the CECAP. The Commission supports equitable and effective action to resolve environmental issues as they arise.

Purpose

In addition to advising the City Council on CECAP implementation, the Commission’s monthly meetings give the public the opportunity to provide input on agenda items. Commissioners also conduct community outreach in their districts to increase community input and awareness.

Duties

  • Regularly attend and contribute to monthly meetings;
  • Conduct community outreach;
  • Establish and maintain good relationships and communication with the City Council and the public.
