Scope and Content

Collection documents the existence of the City of Dallas Proprietary Schools Board, which was created to authorize and regulate proprietary schools within the City of Dallas.  Proprietary schools are for-profit businesses that provide education and training in a variety of areas, most often in trade and technical skills.  The Board was created by City of Dallas ordinance on November 11, 1968, and met regularly until its last meeting on October 19, 1971.  The Board was dissolved on January 1, 1972, after the State of Texas took responsibility for the regulation of proprietary schools under the Texas Proprietary Schools Act.

The collection contains one bound typescript minute book covering meetings held between 1968 and 1971.
