Scope and Content
The collection consists of records relating to a petition to abandon claim to a city street. Included in the collection is the quitclaim deed authorizing the City of Dallas to abandon its claim to the property as well as a hand drawn map detailing the location of the street in question.
The tract of land, located on Washington Avenue, was purchased in 1897 by William Burr. In 1919, Burr's descendant Grace Burr petitioned the city to abandon any claim they may have had to integrate the property into the city street system. A quitclaim deed disclaims any interest the grantor may have in a piece of real estate and passes that claim to the grantee.
