Scope and Content

​Collection  contains fund audit reports and budgets for the Dallas Park and Recreation Department from 1931 through 1961.  Organized in chronological order, some volumes are compilations of multiple fund reports while others are single funds.  Park Department-administered funds include  the Dallas Parks Fund, the Municipal Golf Course Fund, the Grauwyler Memorial Fund, the Park Board Reservoir Improvement Fund, and the Dallas Zoo Fund.​  All of the reports are external audits, conducted by the firms Arthur Young and Company and George H. Bird and Company.  The reports are incomplete and missing several years.

A single bound volume of  typescript Dallas Park and Recreation Department fund budgets for the fiscal years 1940-1941 through 1960-1961 follows the audit reports. 

The City of Dallas conducts periodic systematic and independent examinations of books, accounts, statutory records, documents, and vouchers of city government to ascertain how far the financial statements present a true and accurate view of the fund's activity and management.
