Scope and Content
Collection consists of meeting minutes of the board of managers for the City-County Industrial School for Boys from 1938 to 1960. Included in the documents are statistics related to student population, financial needs, and governance.
The City-County Industrial School for Boys was a cooperative effort by the City and County of Dallas to meet the problems of delinquent and incorrigible boys through joint operation of the school. Occupying 125 acres near Hutchins, in Dallas County, the school provided students with academic instruction as well as manual training in dairy farming, animal husbandry, poultry raising, and other aspects agricultural industry. Students who failed to benefit from the instruction received at the city-county school were often remanded to the state training school at Gatesville, Texas.
