Auditor ‑ Technical Writer

Laura Miller joined the Office of the City Auditor in March of 2018. She is responsible for technical writing and editing related to all aspects of audits and attestation engagement; and, various non-audit services. She also manages web content, designs office training materials, and develops or revises internal processes and procedures.

In addition, she is trained in the City’s Open Records Request and 311 Service Request systems, and conducts daily searches to ensure that Fraud, Waste, and Abuse requests are properly routed to our office for response. This is a fraud-related internal control measure to ensure that all resident complaints related to fraud, waste, and abuse in the City of Dallas are appropriately addressed in a timely manner. Finally, she is involved in the formal referral of fraud, waste, and abuse complaints to appropriate law enforcement where the complaints contain allegations which are potentially criminal in nature.

Prior to joining the Office of the City Auditor, Mrs. Miller specialized in information systems, business writing, and training and development. Her past work history includes experience as a Curriculum Designer, Vocational Instructor, Spanish Teacher, Librarian, and Data Analyst.

In 2005, Mrs. Miller graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Spanish. In 2012 she earned a Master of Science degree in Library Studies from the University of North Texas. She is a member of the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA).
