The City of Dallas Earned Paid Sick Leave Ordinance was
set to be enforced April 1, 2020. However, ESI/Employee Solutions LP, Hagan Law
Group LLC, and the State of Texas sued the City of Dallas in the Eastern District
of Texas and sought a temporary injunction to halt the implementation of the
Ordinance. U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan granted the temporary injunction,
temporarily postponing the Earned Paid Sick Time Ordinance implementation.
Currently, the Ordinance will not be enforced. Any official changes will be
communicated on this webpage, so please check this page frequently for updates.
The Dallas City Council passed the Earned Paid Sick Time Ordinance on April 24, 2019. “Rules for Administrating Chapter 20, ‘Earned Paid Sick Time,’ of the Dallas City Code” clarifies the application and administration of the Ordinance.
