Cold Weather Advisory

An OHS-activated Temporary Weather event occurs when the weather is: Set to be below 36 degrees in wet weather (50% or more precipitation predicted ) or 32 degrees in dry weather, for 3 hours or longer, between 4 pm and 8 am.
In response to these frigid conditions, local partners are stepping up to provide additional services to assist our unsheltered neighbors. Your support is crucial during this time; please consider donating blankets, warm clothing, and non-perishable food items to help those in need.

Temporary Inclement Weather Shelters FAQs



Activated Shelter(s)

The following shelter will be activated on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Intake hours will be from 3:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. and daily thereafter until the inclement weather comes to an end.*

*Hour may vary if extended in accordance with Chapter 45 of the City of Dallas Code by the Office of Homeless Solutions.

Pick up Zones for Transport to Shelter

Pick up routes for Connector and other vans / busses cooperating with Inclement Weather Sheltering.

  • Clients may wait in the below zones for pick up. If you see an individual in need and they are not located near a pickup zone, please call 311 and an operator will direct your call to the appropriate department. See “locations below are for pick up only” on the following chart.
  • The pickup times are from 9 am to 9 pm. However, anyone can contact 311 between the hours of 5am – 10pm or 911 from 10pm – 5am, to receive assistance/transportation during inclement weather.

Zone 1: South of I-30

  • Austin Street & City Square Area – Encampments & covered bus stops

  • Dallas LIFE surrounding neighborhood & Convention Center area

Zone 2: Central Business District

  • City Library
  • Greyhound Bus Station (the closed location)
  • The Bridge area / Closed Family Gateway location
  • The Stewpot / First Presbyterian
  • Dallas 24 Hour Club and surrounding area – including Gaston Ave, Live Oak, and Ross Ave covered bus stops
  • Greenville & Ross intersection / Garrett Park at South end of Greenville Ave
  • Carter Park – Located across from Pearl Street Transit Station at Pearl and Pacific

Zone 3: Medical District & Forrest Ln. Areas

  • Parkland / Southwest Medical Center (SWMC) area / Union Gospel Mission
  • Salvation Army and Medical District Areas, Northwest along Harry Hines
  • City Place, Highway 75 bridge underpasses
  • Medical City / Green Oaks
  • Hwy 75 and Forest Ln area
  • Forest Ln DART Station Pick up Only
  • Parkland /SWMC DART Stations Pick up Only

Recreation Center Locations

Individuals experiencing homelessness are encouraged to seek shelter at any of the City’s existing overnight shelter provider locations. While the best practice is to seek warm shelter, some individuals may refuse assistance. To help improve their chance of survival, cold weather packs will be available at recreational centers across the City.

Saturday – 9 am to 2 pm;
