Mission

To protect the citizens of Dallas by assisting the building official in the administration and interpretation of the building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes adopted by the City of Dallas.

Purpose

To protect the citizens of Dallas by assisting the building official in the administration and interpretation of the building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical codes adopted by the City of Dallas.

Duties

  • Hear appeals from decisions of the building official or the appropriate chief code administrator;
  • Hear requests for the use of a material or method of construction not prescribed by the codes and authorize the use when in the board’s judgment the material or method of construction is at least equivalent to that which is prescribed;
  • Hear and make recommendations concerning requests for amendments to the codes; and
  • Hear requests to suspend a person’s ability to secure permits. (Ord. 26029; 28387)
