Nadia Chandler Hardy was appointed Assistant City Manager on August 10, 2018. In this role, she is responsible for providing Executive leadership oversight to Dallas Animal Services, Code Compliance, Customer Relations-311, and the Offices of Equity and Human Rights, Community Care, and Homeless Solutions. Prior to this appointment, Nadia joined the Dallas team in May 2017 serving as the City’s first Chief of Community Services.
Prior to her Dallas appointment, Nadia most recently served the City of Tacoma as Assistant to the City Manager and Director of Neighborhood and Community Services. In this role, Nadia managed the Office of the City Manager, established the City’s TacomaFIRST (311) Center, and provided executive level support to the City Manager. Most notably, Nadia spearheaded a citywide Ten-Year Vision and Strategic planning effort, engaging over 4,000 residents and community stakeholders resulting in the adoption of “Tacoma2025”, the City’s guiding policy document for service delivery, community development and government performance.
As Director of the City’s Neighborhood & Community Services Department in addition to her duties as Assistant to the City Manager, Nadia managed a biennial investment portfolio of more than $45 million for human/social services and other community mobilization efforts. During her tenure as Department Director, Nadia led significant efforts to include establishing the City’s Continuum of Services for Homelessness, Mental Health and Workforce Development programs and restructuring the City’s code compliance business model for increased property resolution and compliance. Nadia also successfully completed the acquisition of a 12,000 sq. ft. property for the purpose of serving unaccompanied youth and young adults ages 12-24 who are experiencing homelessness and secured a partnership with the Tacoma Housing Authority for the development of a 3-acre property into a campus for crisis residential housing.
Prior to her service in Tacoma, Washington, Nadia served as Management Assistant in the City Manager’s Office for the City of San Antonio, Texas. As Management Assistant, she was responsible for providing staff support services to the City’s Executive Leadership Team and specific core operational departments to include Development Services, Planning & Community Development, San Antonio Public Library, Historic Preservation, Code Enforcement, Animal Care Services and Grants Monitoring Administration. Nadia has also served in various capacities for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas to include Customer Service (311), Economic Development and the City Attorney’s Office before joining the City of San Antonio.
Nadia enjoys being a professional and personal development resource to youth and young professionals. She and her husband, Timothy, enjoy volunteering in the community and are active members in their local church, state and national assemblies.
