Tree replacement plantings are required by City Code for new development, but what else do we do?
Dallas Reforestation Program - Development Services
Trees requested through this program must be planted on public property which includes City of Dallas parks, recreation centers, approved medians and parkways. Trees are purchased and delivered through the Article X Reforestation Fund.
Branching Out Dallas - Park and Recreation See photos of this year's plantings below!
Park and Recreation chooses a minimum of twelve parks per year to plant new trees. Trees are purchased and delivered through the Article X Reforestation Fund.
Branch Out Dallas - Water Utilities
Annually provides a free tree to Dallas homeowners to be planted in their yard. The trees are purchased with stormwater fees as this is an effort to filter and decrease stormwater runoff, improve air quality and decrease temperatures on private property.
In addition, Dallas Water Utilities also plants trees in the Great Trinity Forest and floodway management areas, while Public Works adds trees to empty medians every year.
